Important Update Regarding Patient Care

Recently DHCS notified Borrego Health of the state’s unwarranted intention to reimpose its full 100% Medi-Cal payment suspension on all Borrego Medi-Cal services beginning Sept. 29. In response to this misguided action by DHCS which jeopardizes our patients’ access to care, Borrego Health has filed a petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code to protect its ability to fulfill its mission and to address its liabilities. The case is pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California.

It’s important to note that we will continue to operate in the ordinary course of business. Our doors remain open, and our talented team members will continue to provide care to our patients who depend on the care we provide.

This important legal step will:

  • Support our mission to protect local healthcare access and meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.

  • Allow us to continue to provide care as we do today while we secure the future of healthcare for our patients.

  • Prevent the DHCS action to suspend Medi-Cal payments from taking effect.

  • Better position us to address ongoing state and federal investigations.
