Access Clinic Medical Director

In 2011, Dr. Scott Allen established a novel primary care clinic for adults with developmental disabilities called the Access Clinic, a clinic that is now being expanded throughout Borrego Health to bring quality, accessible primary care to adults with developmental disabilities. Dr. Scott Allen graduated from Brown University Medical School with honors in 1991. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The Miriam Hospital, Brown University and became board certified in internal medicine in 1995. He served in the National Health Service Corps at community health centers in Mississippi and Rhode Island. He has worked internationally and in the U.S. with refugee and immigrant populations, as well as incarcerated populations. After 17 years on the faculty of Brown Medical School, he joined the University of California, Riverside in 2011 as a founding clinical faculty member and eventually served as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Chair of Medicine. He continues to teach as a Professor of Clinical Medicine Emeritus at UCR. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians of Clinical Medicine Emeritus at UCR. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
