Welcome to the Graduate Medical Education Program

Here at Borrego Health we are passionate about education and serving our community. We are proud to be working towards a solution for the physician shortage to the underserved people of Southern California.

Borrego Health is highly regarded in our mission to serve the people of California. Borrego Health is composed of 23 community clinics that span 400 miles of geography and is rich in cultural diversity. We are the largest teaching health center in the country with greater than 170 residents, 160 medical students, 60 nurse practitioner and physician assistant students, and over 90 nursing students.

The programs at Borrego Health are designed for residents to gain the clinical experience necessary to become competent, compassionate doctors and community leaders. Residents will have the opportunity to gain the administrative and research skills necessary to improve the health of the community.

Borrego Health is affiliated with 2 institutions with 2 residencies:

  • Hemet Valley Medical Center

  • Riverside Community Hospital

While each program is designed to enhance the resident’s experience, all programs are designed to meet the unique requirements of the various specialty programs. The residency experience is structured to be a supportive learning environment to allow for individual growth that aligns with ACGME training requirements.
