WHY WE CARE | OUR PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Compassionate. Altruistic. Respectful. Empathetic.
C.A.R.E. is the motivating vision for the Borrego Health (BH) Department of Residency and Medical Education. Since the inception of such an ideal that dates back to 2010, it has been my pursuit and our vision at BH to ensure that our residents wholeheartedly embrace the C.A.R.E. approach towards patients. This being truth, no matter who the patient is, where they come from, or their ability to pay, C.A.R.E. is our driving force!
It seems like yesterday when C.A.R.E. and an established Department of Residency and Medical Education at BH was only a concept. But with a steadfast commitment and genuine will, the Department of Residency and Medical Education was established in 2013. Furthermore, collaborating with partners like Eisenhower Medical Center, Desert Regional Medical Center, Loma Linda University and the UC Riverside School of Medicine, we are delighted to play our role in training the next generation of compassionate physicians.
With an accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education and an unwavering emphasis utilizing the C.A.R.E. approach in our teaching primary care clinics, Centro Medico Cathedral City, Palm Springs Women’s Health Center and Desert Hot Springs Main Medical Center, our deepest commitment is to serve the underserved. Our dedicated faculty appreciates a community-based approach and works to cultivate the next generation of transformative and life-changing physicians.
Our C.A.R.E. philosophy does not allow for us to settle, nor does it allow it for our residents. If you are seeking a rewarding and challenging future, developing and understanding that health disparities exist while practicing care, and having a positive impact on a diverse patient population, then BH is your teaching facility.
You will be a guide and a teacher to those that are voiceless and in much need of an advocate for their care. We ask that you join us to learn and to stay in the communities we serve. You are needed and welcomed in our Department of Residency and Medical Education.
